Oprah Winfrey’s Empowering Golden Globes Speech

The Cecil B. DeMille Award is an honorary Golden Globe Award bestowed by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “outstanding contributions to the world of entertainment”.

As Reese Witherspoon hands over The Cecil B. DeMille Award to Oprah Winfrey, she starts off to deliver one of the most powerful speeches one could ever witness. This was not a political speech that went on for 90 minutes, this was a little over 9 minutes but the power in which the speech was delivered, the passion, the body language, the moist eyes, the choice of words, the way the whole thing was delivered would leave you with either tears or at least goosebumps.

She quickly touches upon the press, how their contribution makes a lot of difference to the society we live in, she touches upon the power of truth, she touches up about women empowerment, about abuse. She talks about Recy Taylor, Rosa Parks. Some names most of would not know if not for this 9-minute speech.

2017 saw a lot of controversies in the Hollywood and how women are treated, she delivers this powerful speech on how the women have been silenced because they have people to feed and dreams to achieve!

As Oprah Winfrey says about overcoming the most difficult situations and how we maintain hope for a bright day even during the darkest hours! And how a new day is on the horizon, there is a standing ovation, bright smiles, tears, pride and solidarity, much needed in this day and age. Just as Oprah says, we too hope that you don’t have today “me too” #metoo

And for that Ms. Winfrey, we salute you. We hope and wish that every man and woman take your speech more seriously and We hope all of us love, admire and respect all the women around us, celebrate them when they succeed in something however big or small.

We’d always like to thank “Times Up” initiative, please read up about every name we have mentioned about, a lot of learning, a lot more to know…
